The iPhone XR is now available for pre-order at Apple.com. Why are we talking about this? Because it is cheaper and represses the growing complaints about Apple's prices. Android OEMs should pay attention, here's why.

Most smartphone users with Android who invest in the smartphone industry know that only Apple can do what it does, often to the astonishment of all of us. There is great admiration for the way in which the company can add the problems of the customers, charge more money and still not suffer. To be clear, an iPhone is not a bad choice if it suits you. The iPhone X is a fine device and stands out for how well it was sold despite everything. We were not fans of the notch. FaceID seemed like an improvement over a fingerprint sensor, but first generation technology is always full of problems and this was a big change. While the elimination of the headphone jack was progressive for the technology, it was regressive for the users.

Apple constantly brings out a phone with great hardware but is always trying to sell money to its customers with increasingly important services (and increasingly expensive). The iPhone X cost $ 999 at launch with only 64 GB of storage, however, Apple somehow sold almost as many phones as it has always done.

Samsung gave its best with the Galaxy S9, but sales fell even more.

Samsung gave its best with the Samsung Galaxy S9 at a similar price level, and sales of S9 fell. Apple's sales remained, it is now a trillion dollar company.

However, the criticism of its price could not be completely absent. Apple had to make some course corrections. This is what he did.

The new strategy
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max emerged a few weeks ago with the standard incremental improvements that Apple normally makes with its S models. The new XS models have a faster processor, better IP68 rating, dual SIM, camera enhancements like HDR +, more RAM and slightly larger batteries. The XS Max comes with a much larger screen and the same internal parts.

The star of Apple could be the iPhone XR, and Android OEMs should pay attention.

However, the star of the Apple show could be the iPhone XR. It's something that Android OEMs will focus on.

The XR is, first of all, 25 per cent cheaper than the iPhone XS. It's still $ 750, but in Apple's world, that's a bargain. Instead of paying almost $ 50 a month for the iPhone XS through Apple financing, it will pay approximately $ 37 per month for the iPhone XR. The iPhone XS Max has a proposal that I can follow: giant screens are becoming increasingly popular, and buying the best of the line no matter the cost is part of being an Apple fan.

However, it is difficult to understand why you would not consider the model cheaper compared to the XS.

Apple tried it, tried again, and this time the XR should work.

Apple tried this approach a couple of times in the past. The iPhone 5C went wrong. Its colourful plastic casings were adapted to a very small audience, and it did not sell well.

Apple implemented those lessons with the 4-inch iPhone SE in 2016, which incorporated state-of-the-art technology to a previous device. It was a much better attempt and it suited those who loved the utility and construction of a small screen phone. And that price!

The iPhone XR returns to work better. It has a hardware almost identical to the iPhone XS, which goes back in two key areas. It has an LCD screen instead of OLED, and a single trigger on the back instead of the double chamber array that we're used to seeing from flagships. The changes are minor. The cost benefit is significant.
Does anyone doubt Apple's careful XR synchronization?

The agreement is so good, it seems to me that Apple deliberately delayed the availability until October to try to introduce first the breeders in the iPhone XS or XS Max. The coincidences that squeeze the most to consumers are not by mistake.

This is exactly what Android smartphone makers need to learn.
